Knowing Things Close Up
Enlightenment is intimacy with all things.
Intimacy means you stop at the threshold of something and really look. Not the grand view, but the particular. The way light falls on a single object. The specific weight of a moment. Enlightenment, then, is not escape into the vast. It is descent into the texture of what is already here. You do not need to travel far. The thickness of attention, held steady on one ordinary thing, is where the depth lives.
Question for today
What is one small thing nearby that you have not truly noticed yet?
Practice
Pick one object within arm's reach. Spend one minute observing only its surface, color, and shape without naming or judging it.
