Enjoying What Is Already Here

True happiness is to enjoy the present, without anxious dependence upon the future.
Seneca

Sunrise No. 186

The word "enjoy" is not about feeling good. It means to have full use of something. Right now, you have use of this breath, this cup, this moment before the day demands anything. Not the next hour. Not next week. The present is not a consolation prize while you wait for real life. It is the only place you actually live. Seneca knew this. Anxiety about what's coming steals the only thing you own: now.

Question for today

What small thing can you have full use of, exactly as it is, without improving it or rushing past it?

Practice

Before you check your phone, name one thing you can touch right now and notice how it actually feels.
