How We Build the Day
How we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives.
The question is not whether your life matters. The question is whether you notice how it's made. Most days we move through hours without seeing them. A conversation happens while you think about the next one. A meal goes down while your mind is already elsewhere. Dillard asks us to look at the small unit, the day itself, because that is where life actually lives. Not in some future moment. Here. In this cup of coffee. In this hour before the noise starts.
Question for today
What is one thing you will do today deliberately, instead of automatically?
Practice
Before checking your phone, name one small thing you will protect time for today.
